get all life has to offer out of what's left. I want life to be fun, and I want to
know if Jesus can help make that happen." Campolo wants to kindle in you the
divine spark of passion - passion for God, passion for His Creation, passion
for life. He shows you how to Seize the Day!

has prevented their 12-year-old son from attending Sunday school. The boy's grandfather
answers questions that he has about how the very first Christians spread their faith. The
pictures in this book are outstanding. Adults will find this book engaging also.

since you loaded your sling shot and took a swing at your giant?

journey.

goodbye to playing it safe when it comes to radically trusting their savior.  Are you willing to
trust God with everything?—is the question addressed in this book by Kenny Luck, men's
pastor at Dr. Rick Warren's Saddleback Church.

God's Politics
by Jim Wallis

review by Pastor Jay Schmidt
This book does not favor Republicans or Democrats—as the subtitle states, "why the
Right gets it wrong and the Left doesn't get it." The author does an excellent job taking a
thorough look at Christian values and relating them to the political arena. As the author
looks back at the last election, he mentions that only two Christian values seemed to
make it to the radar screen. They are gay marriage and abortion.
He points out that there are other values that never got proper attention, and faults the
Democrats for being too timid or reluctant to connect other Christian values to political
viewpoints. The Scriptures are replete with statements to care for creation because it is a
gift from God. When we drill for oil in the Alaska Natural Wildlife Refuge, for example, are
we not going against that Christian value? When the United States is the only major
western nation that has refused to sign the Kyoto Treaty to reduce global warming, is this
not going against that Christian value?
Other issues Wallis calls to our attention—our government needs to make significant
changes in our health care system so that poor Americans have the same opportunities
as the rich. He criticizes the recent tax cuts because about 70% of those cuts went to the
wealthiest 20% of Americans.  He contends these policies go against Christian values not
because it is wrong for people to be wealthy, but it is wrong the wealthiest among us
receive additional tax relief when the poor need it most.
He lauds Republicans for having the courage to oppose the lax sexual values in our
society and criticizes the Democrats for their failure in this area, because Hollywood is a
source of support for Democrats.
From the above examples, a clear picture is emerging. Mr. Wallis is giving his readers a
way to evaluate the political process in America today.

you can't. He comes to move the stones you can't budge. The goal of this book is to
witness the tenderness of Christ and be reminded that what He did in the New Testament
He is willing to do today.
